Appalachian Anatomy and Physiology Camps in Boone this summer is offering scholarships to attend. The total awarded per family will depend on the number of requests received. Historically we have been able to offer in the range of $350- $500, occasionally higher.
Here is the process to request a partial scholarship:
1) Please register for Anatomy and Physiology Camp now and pay the $250 deposit. Choose your session at http://conferences-camps.appstate.edu/youth-camps
2) Student: Please send a statement explaining why you want to attend the camp, and what you hope to gain. This should be your own words. Email is fine.
3) Parent/Guardian: Please write a brief statement stating financial need, including how much aid you are requesting.
4) Parent/Guardian: Please speak to a school counselor, teacher or administrator. Ask the school professional to submit a statement verifying family financial need, as well as what benefit this camp will have for the student. The prospective camper does not need to be an 'A' student, but should show strong interest in the sciences.

Awards will be offered between April 15 and May 15. If you register for camp and do not receive a scholarship that meets your needs, you may request a full refund of your deposit.

The Cabarrus County Youth Speaks program will be held at each of the Cabarrus libraries on May 20th. Students applying to be speakers or performers (playing an instrument, dramatic piece, etc...) must submit applications by April 10th. The purpose of the program is to elevate the voices of the youth across the country by providing them with a platform to share their passions with the community. This event is open to all highschoolers in Cabarrus County.

The Shelton Challenge is a 5 day summer experience which focuses on honesty, integrity, compassion, diversity, and social responsibility.
