What happened in room 210 at the Opportunity School? This is the question the middle school students have to address as they process the crime scene. Using the evidence presented they have to determine who the victim is, who did it, why they did it and how was it done. Every staff member is a suspect and their stories are consistently changing. Officer Olomua was there to brief all the OMS Detectives and explain to them what he knows as the first officer on the scene.

Students are having fun interviewing staff and processing the evidence in order to create an original short story based on the scene. Click the picture below for a gallery of Crime Scene photos!

  • Principal's Message, Beverly T. Mack

EACH DAY IS A NEW DAY!

Greetings to everyone in the Opportunity Middle and High School Family! I am happy to serve the students in Cabarrus County in grades 6-12 in the Alternative Program setting. The Opportunity School vision and guiding principle is “A revitalized and re-engaged student who is empowered and capable.” This vision statement embodies our day to day practices. We will continue to assist the school district in preparing responsible, productive citizens who have worked to improve their academic, behavioral, and emotional challenges. Our continuum of alternative services reaches out to proactively target the needs of at-risk students with early intervention strategies, character education, highly trained and talented teachers and staff members, and high quality instruction. At The Opportunity School, we address the needs of students with attendance, credit, and behavioral challenges, but we try our best to help students every day in a smaller, structured, nurturing environment that builds their ability to be successful in the traditional school setting and beyond. We do have a uniform requirement which helps students focus on the inside and not the outside.

As the Principal, I am proud to serve the staff and the students in a positive manner. We may not offer after school athletics or clubs but we do have a system of incentives and student groups that students can participate in while they are enrolled with us. Please know that we maintain a safe, orderly, caring school!

    Principal Mack
